Connecticut Innovations 13th Annual
Technology DinnerEntitled “Connecticut:
Technology at a Crossroads,”
this year’s Technology Dinner
was designed to call attention to
what organizers said was a critical
juncture for the state and to elicit
ideas from state technology and business
leaders on how to foster continued
expansion of the state’s high-technology
economy. The dinner, attracting more
than 650 people, was held on November
13th at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford.
At the event, a panel presented recommendations
that emerged from the Technology Summit,
a three-hour brainstorming meeting
that immediately preceded the dinner.
Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, Ph.D., president
and CEO of the Yale School of Management’s
Chief Executive Leadership Forum,
moderated the panel. Panelists (pictured
below L-R) were: Kevin Rakin, president,
director and founder of Genaissance
Pharmaceuticals Inc.; Elaine Pullen,
president, Gerber Scientific Products
Inc., senior vice president of Gerber
Scientific; Walter Schroeder, chief
executive officer, Proton Energy Systems
Inc.; and Walter Plosila, vice president,
Battelle Memorial Institute.
Connecticut Innovations also presented
its annual Technology Awards to honor
individuals and organizations that
have contributed significantly to
the growth of high technology in Connecticut.
